What I think needs to happen is for a big company like Nike to sign a whole team of riders and push them into doing team trips and events. Or for a TV channel such as Discovery to do a whole TV series about bodyboarders hunting waves in similar vein to the Storm Riders show with Tom Carroll and Ross Clarke Jones. When I was young and stupid and after a big pay cheque, i was dum enough to get a Nike tattoo on my arm, one of the stupidest things I've done, but I'm in the motions of getting it covered up. I don't buy Nike clothes or apparel because the warehouse and Otara flea market are ka pai for me in that department. And who knows what sort of motives Nike has, and I agree that mainstream bodyboarding sounds a bit scary, but like peeps have said, if it gets more kids on lids then that's cool with me.
