Does anyone have one ?
How is it? Better then PE or PP ?
Its my understanding that they are heavy than a PE Board ?

right now in the middle of summer, its going real good. not mega flexy like a dow, but not super stiff like PP, just right. im liking it at the moment, all is good and i reckon winter should bring the goods too. better to be a little bit on the stiff side me thinks

Yeah would be keen to hear the feedback now that there are a few people on them. I know Andre and Mitch both had a go on them at the Arato Comp and that Dick McKenna has been riding his a little too. I really like my one aye, it kinda feels like a PP that has been broken in for a bit, good flex straight off the bat. I reckon you notice them on bottom turning, really nice and whippy off the bottom. I think it is an excellent concept and well suited to NZ waters year round (although we do have differences from North to South) They are heavier which I understand has to do with the laminate between the Dow and PP. You dont notice the slight weight difference in the water though.

Be keen to hear what the guys riding them have to say...

I've maybe 15 surfs on my VS PLC 3D now here in dunedin. It's great...better projection than my dow board. Took about 6 surfs to break in and now its sweet. It's a little stiffer than my dow board but much more 'alive'. I prefer it. I guess it feels as stiff as a new dow, but rides better. Weight is no issue in comparison to dow. So it seems to work well down here...winter may be different.

From the reports i have heard they sound friken awesome!!! I haven't got one yet but will be getting one soon just tossing up between the player and the plc...... I'm thinking more towards the player though...

Winter will be interesting but i'd imagine it would be ok especially if like stu says you can get a few surfs in on it before winter and break it in..

From the feedback they sound real good!

My last 2 boards have been VS Rawlins PE, being a VS they are really good quality but i just kill them so quick! Like crease them across the Deck and they have so much flex with in a few months, which is why I was thinking of getting either a PP or a 3D core next. Its just the weight of a 3D puts me off a bit. So i'm thinking about PP.

How would a PP go in NZ? Bareing in mind that I'm thinking about spending winter on The SI? If I broke one in would it be ok?

uramit - I've gone from a dow player to the 3D PLC. They aren't wildly different. The PLC seems a bit looser, certainly I've been making more moves. It's fast. Perhaps it doesn't pull into barrels as well as the player (it looks like the channels are not quite so deep and the template is a bit more rounded) but maybe it is just getting used to a new board.
I reckon you'd feel a bigger difference between the same board with the different core than between the different boards with the same core.

I'm bringing my rather shanty town VS Rawlins which i've been destroying for the last 3 days on a fun but heavy shorey here in Sydney. But I'll be getting a new one in NZ fairly soon, wheres the place to get a board over there?

I ended up getting a new board today as my Rawlins has gone to a better place.
I really couldn't make up my mind what to get and I ended up in the end deciding on getting a cheap Dow for the time being until I settle somewhere, then I will get something more decent. So i got a 4 Play Tom Robinson Tech PE . Its not top of the range but I got 30% off and it will keep me going for a bit.

I had a go on the 3D core PLC board after the port comp. Really need to test in some heavier waves to say for sure if I like them or not.

It felt a fair bit stiffer than my VS rawlins PP. But thats probably because it's 2 years old and been used in super warm water (mex).

I think down the south island I'd still go dow. But up here through summer/autum feels like it would be perfect once broken in a bit! Probably last longer than a dow as well.

I'm going to keep riding my PP for now, then when water gets colder switch to my dow.

Next summer i'll look at getting one for sure as my PP will have had it by then.

I have ridden my BP 3D board for a while now - thanks isolated shop. Having previously ridden PE and EFC I can notice subtle differences. The board does, I believe, project better than PE having more "snap", particularly when bottom turning and likewise when hitting the lip. However, I don't think you truly appreciate the difference in the 3D flex qualities until you get into a bit of juice whereby to me it felt more responsive. I couldn't really notice a hell of a lot of difference between PE and 3D until the waves got above 3ft. Board scoops really well too.

I have been riding a turbo iv frc/efc core for most of this summer now. at first impressions it felt as stiff if not stiffer than a pp, after a week or two in some heaving shories and the odd reef session shes flexy as now, im stoked as with the core!
Its almost boarderline too flexy on some of these really hot days, but once your in the water its sweet, plus its real responsive (snaps back into its original position). i think i have found my core to stick with thats for sure!
