Make sure you get your share of sandy whomp-downs at Supertubos (Peniche).

That place gives me The Fear on a big swell. Heaviest Beachy Ever. Needs a solid swell with a lot of south in it though...

Yea man piniche is lots of fun book in at the surf school back packers they can be lots of fun with heaps of euro wanna be surf girls. Super tubos on low tide is a scream but if the swells not right go some where else as the other beachs arnt that great. Big chris's bar 5 euro for the biggest burger and a jug of beer is mint.

Ericeira - several heavy and epic reefs within spitting distance of each other. No options in anything but winds out of the east though. There's real cheap cabins at a camping ground north of town and near the waves. Peniche and supertubos is worth a look, though a bit of a nothing place. Lisbon is one of the sickest cities around, and Lagos in the Algarve is a good place if you want to get stuck in an ex-pat drunken stupor for a few weeks.

Have a look at photos on my website if you want - mostly from Ericeira with some Peniche and Algarve.

Eririca for sure as gardy said good reef breaks and some nice beachies to. Not to far from lisbon and catches alot of swell. Hopefully you score, it can be pretty fickle
