Right fellas, I know a few of you own one of these cameras, any advice/recommendations? Looking at the HD setup. Anyone know of the best place to source one?
Also I was thinking with having it attached to your boogie, when you pull into a draining slab and get eaten does your arm leash not cause any damage to the setup at all? Some photos of how you guys have set it up would be handy if you can be bothered posting them.

Bought mine directly from the GoPro website. Took about 2 weeks to arrive and cost about $415 including shipping. I couldn't be fucked waiting for the NZ distributors to get it, nor did I want to pay inflated prices.
Haven't mounted it yet or used it in the surf yet. I gotta buy some more leash plugs to mount it! |

I got mine when I was in LA.
Cost about NZ$200 I think even if you have to pay postage it's cheaper buying it through somewhere in the USA like gopro website or amazon.com I'd be stoked to see some other peoples footage so i'll post up some photos soon showing how mine is setup. You're right the leash can get in the way of the camera when you get worked. It's pretty strong though and I only had a problem when I took it out in 6-8ft mexico and got caught inside. Leash wrapped around camera and broke one of the plastic mounting legs. After that I only used it in 6ft or under and it was sweet. Helmet cam would be the way to go in big surf I reckon. Still works fine now though, and if it breaks off totaly there's a little leash holding onto the camera so you wont loose it. Plus a new housing is US$30 i think. |

Been getting my go pro in the water lately , ontop of my gath mainly on the picture settings .been pretty happy wih most of the results.rellum keep looped on how that angle when its stuck on the nose of your board turns out , good idea . was in indo with a couple of the custom x riders in june last year and they had a aluminium arm about 300mm screwed in the back corner of their board with the gopro ontop filming the back of their body getting barreled was quite effective and made you look much deeper in the barrel but real sketchy to to have sticking out of your board when you come off.
