If you've ever been to Bali, you know that rampant capitalism is ruining the place real fast. But here is another level of madness about to land on the Bukit Peninsula...

Check this monstrosity of a surf resort they're building at Dreamlands:

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&source=hp&q=bali+indonesia&gbv=2&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Bali,+Indonesia&ll=-8.798225,115.119832&spn=0.006446,0.00736&t=h&z=17

Greed wins again. And Bali is officially fucked.

I first headed over to bali about 10 years ago. For the last 8 years I have only used bali as a base to head off to other islands and to hit the tangs. Too many crew in water at the main spots in bali for me.Not into the crowds. Its really sad to see all the developments, but evey cloud has a silver a lining as I guess as indo's are getting paid work out of the developments.

My personal opinion is that the indo experience is all about the mish to the outer islands.half sinking ferrys, Shitty cheap acomo, bedbug ridden beds, mossies, and super sick surf.I have always meet cool crew at most of these spots too as on that same mission of getting waves and avoiding the bali vortex of posers and pros
.
Flying in jakarta in the 24 july then heading out west for a couple of weeks then to lakeys until the start of sep if anyones heading over.
