So after all this talk we have a wave to show you all.

Opening up for viewing but you have to book at our website. When we first put the word out there that we were planning on building something, most peoples questions are about the wave and what its going to be like. So to answer that we have built a wave that will be surfable. We can't open it up to you guys to ride just yet sorry but come and check it out next week if you are in Auckland.

We have to get everyone to register online cause there are a lot of people booked and if everyone came at once we wouldn't be able to handle the crowds. THe first 3 nights are booked out now but we haven't closed it off yet. www.thewavebox.co.nz

Looks like there will be a bodyboarder there riding too if all goes to plan.

Hey Gav

Sussing things out with 'that bodyboarder' as we speak and will get you some definite details in the next day!

All sounds awesome, great work.

Peace

Yeah how good would it be for a specialty event like they do with the Dreamworld Event in Queensland. Especially if they wave is anything like I have heard, it will actually be sick for bodyboarding!

Sorry no photos other than what we have on the website and facebook.

We have blacked out the windows as we start to finish work on the wave. This is a world first and there are a few secrets that are worth keeping.

As for the tanning beds, you know they'll be in the program.

Would love to have bodyboarding and surfing events in there. The big wave looks like it will work pretty well for a bodyboard. Got a bunch of ideas of how a contest could work in there. But our focus right now is to get this test wave humming for next week.

Wedgy, I know you seem to want it to succeed, but why bring that negative spin in to the mix? What these guys are doing and/or attempting to do is awesome. They are taking a big risk and I think it is important that all of the surfing/bodyboarding community gets behind them. This is such a rad concept and has me toes tingling like when Snowplanet came to fruition (although that was always going to be a bit more of a learners facility)

So easy to be an armchair critic and sit back on the WWW and say "Man this thing is gonna bite balls, it will suck, they should give up and just stop trying, can someone get me a shoe horn and some butter, im stuck to my computer chair again - 1337 h/-\xx0rz 2oo9"

This is great, what Gav, Jarrod and the crew are doing is awesome and we should all be positive about this and try to support it if we can!!

I for one will be there at the display days, should be fricken sweet!!

Man, I must have been living under a rock, I hadn't even herd of this happening. Such a freakin' rad idea. So Interested to see pics or vid of how it runs when the time comes.
If i were coming over to NZ to see it, I would requesting days Glans isn't there in his oiled budgies, haha.
Props to all involved and will be keeping a good eye on how it unfolds.
Massive stoke that you guys have organised a booger for the demo days.
I've posted a notice on the rippy forum, if I get questions, can i ask here in case they are common questions or should I email direct? (apart from q's about how it works of course). Hope that promotes it a bit more for y'all.

I'd be keen to hear what types of waves this thing can produce. I'll be moving to Dorkland in a few weeks so hopefully I get a chance to check it out.

Me being the tight bastard that I am - what's the cost going to be? Any discounts for Isolated members?

And thats my opionion directed straight back at him/her Rutts. Its a public forum after all!

Joe - No discount for isolated members. From all accounts I remember one of the earlier concepts of the Wave Box guys were to keep the cost down as much as possible, but you have to be willing to pay something when you see the massive amount of moolah that has abviously been poured in to the whole thing!

I was thinking more like a "tanning area" where we could walk around, oil up, rub down, lift a few weights etc, etc.

originally when I checked the net it was a round channel with a continuous wave going round in circles - but now on the website it shows a graphic with a bunch of flowriders?

just curious did the design change gav? Am interested to know what type of articial wave this is, im sure there would be a few interested parties here in the prc if this thing works

first question from the rippy forum, if that's ok? i'm sure u guys are running around like nuts though with it just opened, so no rush or anything.

"Wait what, when they say standing they mean as in stationary waves? With actual barrels? On deepwater?
I'll be damned if this isn't a wet dream come true."

cheers

Haven't checked this topic for a few weeks...

We have been working pretty hard to get the pumps going after a few things out of our control held things up.

I will post up here when we have something going. It'll be soon but I just don't want to say a date yet in case we have another of those hold ups. We're a bit disappointed about the delays but that's just the way these big projects go sometimes.

The wave is not much like a flow rider at all, the only similarity is that it is not a moving swell. I know there are a lot of questions around the wave and that's the whole reason we're building a working model. Seeing it will answer questions for people a lot more than me trying to describe things here. We will have a body boarder riding at demos too.

Gavin
