Hey muel_sam. You heard the first single off the new album? That's pretty much what you're in for, heaps more of a motown/old school r'n'b vibe compared to Kaleidoscope - the jazzy hip hop thing is all but gone and from the sounds of things is probably what got you into them.
It's still worth checking out because the sound and the songs are great, but if you're after more of the old stuff you won't find it. |

D dot Dallas is the best rapper in NZ so yep can't wait for his album.
PNC's album Bazooka Kid is another high quality offering and has a lil something for everyone. |

had a listen to opensouls the other day. not my cup of tea. loved the jazzy hip hop on the first album but they have changed... used to be cool.
D.Dallas is going to be the shit! yo joe i copped bazooka kid when it first came out, that is one dope album go check out Mos Def's the ecstatic. thats the album of the year for me |

I like this year's MF DOOM's "Born Like This", a bit more than Mos Def's "The Ecstatic" but got them both on vinyl, yarrrr. Favourite Hip Hop at the moment probably Harmonic 313 "When Machines Exceed Human Intelligence", but its mostly instrumental if your into that too.
Back to topic, I've heard a little bit of the Opensouls and am definitely going to peep this album, the old skool motown sound is right up my ally. I don't listen to NZ hip hop really, not because I'm a hater, just never heard anything to keep my head bangin. Does anyone know who produced the D.Dallas/PNC albums? |
